The Pets Project
What is it?
A program through the Jewish Association for Services for the Aged (JASA), wherein volunteers help elderly people care for their pets in their own homes
What do you want from me?
Submit an application and interview if you want to volunteer with the seniors. Or organize a pet-food drive at your place of work.
Who does it help?
Old folks. Studies show that seniors with pets require fewer doctor visits and are generally happier. (Aww!)
What's in it for me?
“Volunteers build incredible relationships with the seniors,” says Alexandra Collier, director of volunteer services. “There’s a sense of helping the pet and helping the senior.” A feel-good double whammy!
I'm sold. Let's do this shit.
E-mail volunteer@jasa.org for more info, or for advice on organizing an independent pet-food drive.
