    Old schooled

Dear Old Schooler: What is the etiquette for the laundry room, both at a Laundromat and in an apartment building? I swear I have a laundry Nazi who takes other people’s stuff out of the washer and dryer as soon as the cycle is done! What can I do about him?—Jenn

    Judy Foust, 77, Chelsea
Do you have a doorman? Because, see, we used to have cleaning people coming in doing everyone’s laundry, and we reported it to the front desk. We were waiting like nuts! The super told us, “Don’t take it out,” and we said, “But we live here! Our time is too valuable!” Even though I’m retired, it doesn’t mean I want to wait around for other people. I’m not in my building for popularity, you know? So your first step should be to approach the man and state your complaint. I know I sure would. I’d follow him to his apartment if I had to! If it’s happening a lot, you should complain to the person you pay your rent to. Then again, if you’re not moving your laundry on time, he has every right to move it for you. Why should he wait?

Maybe you should be thinking less about what you can do about him and more about getting to your finished laundry on time. People are busy and your using a communial laundry room. Be courteous and don't bitch when someone puts your laundry on top of the dryer.
