How would you describe your approach to hairstyling?
I’m a sculptor, man. I just see an image and I fucking build it. You sit down, and it’s like, “Whoa! It’d be fucking cool if we brought this shape up and bring out your cheekbones and highlight your eyes.…” It’s like, I think, How can we make you look hot as fuck?
Where does your style come from?
My grandma was really into her hair and makeup and let me put on eyeliner when I was 11 years old—that popped my fucking cherry right there. I was 18 when I dropped out of high school and went to hair school in Tallahassee, Florida. Then I followed a boy to Orlando and worked at Alchemy Hair Salon: They were really artistic and creative and taught me how to visualize, and how to look at the hair as an image.
Are there any styles you’re loving lately?
Girls have been really into bobs, and the sexiest bob is the Debbie Harry disco bob. For girls that want length, I’ve been doing these 1970s elfin-style cuts with heavy bangs. For dudes, I like clean-cut, high, tight, militaristic hair. Very fucking Nazi. I also like a classic gentlemen’s cut, like the ’50s slicked-back pomp. Right now, where fashion is at, everything’s been done. We’re a melting pot of looks, so I like everything.
What’s your favorite hair product right now—your desert island pick, so to speak?
Oh my god, Sachajuan! It’s this Swedish hair line with seven different products to choose from. Also, Moroccan argan oil for dry hair. It’s rad for hair texture.
Hair mags suck. Where do you turn for inspiration?
Everywhere. I’m inspired by what’s around me: music, architecture, paintings. I’m an artist, you know? I don’t think about inspiration—I just live it.

Laura is a genius. been seeing her for 3 years and she is an amazing person and artist.
I cant express how happy i am by the hair cut i recieved today by laura. It looks wonderful she somehow understood perfectly what would suit my face. She is a true artist and worth every penny.
Laura is amazing! Such vitriol here. She's funny and wild and a seriously great hairdresser. Who cares if she curses? She gives a motherfuckin' damn-good haircut, and that's all that matters.
are you kidding she's fucking rad. haters.
you make me fucking sick.
Is Nazi code for anal? If so, I found my new hairdresser.
Is this chick serious?
UM..really do you have to curse so much. Don't get me wrong I am no saint but seriously. So Ugly. If you are talented let is shine girl with you skills not your nasty mouth. Thats what makes people hate your skills when you just do it. Otherwise your just judged for being tacky. Maybe you don't care what people think but its still not cool. Anyway your hair does look cool.
Laura sees the beauty in everyone, no matter the age, size, or physical package on the surface. She has a real gift for bringing that beauty out and making people feel good about themselves. That's an art! This girl has some magic fingers, man, and a whole lotta soul.
Don't judge Laura on her language. She has amazing talent and personality. I really love how free spirited she is! I don't trust anyone else to touch my hair. Laura always makes me look amazing, even with my unruly curly hair!
Laura has a great energy about herself. I love getting my hair cut from her! She has the skills for you to fall in love with your hair all over again. :)
So obnoxious. There are a thousand skilled stylists in the city who are genuinely cool who won't make you want to claw your eyes out.
Laura is a goddess from another celestial plane! She took me from bad to totally rad! I highly recommend her magical hair skills, she will transform you into a wizard of wonderment!!
