1133 Broadway between 25th and 26th Sts, suite 1201, 212-807-8172, (extratalentagency.com)
Description: You’ve seen the Ricky Gervais show. Jobs can be anything from modeling for print ads to appearing in commercials, and usually call for four to eight hours a day.
Qualification: No résumé, SAG card or experience required. Go to extratalentagency.com, register as “actor,” enter a short profile (hair color, eye color, ethnicity, height, weight) and snail mail a photo. Then wait for your not-so-close-up.
How much cash? “Last week, I got a call for a print job that was paying $1,200 for, like, a four- or five-hour job,” says Extra Talent Agency rep Gabi Suau. “That was actually for an old man. So it depends. Right now, I need hipsters for $50 for a ten-hour day, which is, you know, going to be tricky to fill.” But usually, she says, non-SAG members who are on time and not fussy can earn $150 to $200 for a day’s work.
When do I get paid? Depends. Extra Talent isn’t in charge of paying, just hooking extras up with producers, but it’s usually pretty quick. Some will pay you on set the day-of, if it’s a low-paying job; others will send you a check within two weeks.
