Saul Ureña, 27; upper Manhattan
1. Whom are you voting for and why? “The logical choice as a poor man would be to vote for Obama. I like his politics—his stance on the war. His economic plan sounds good in theory; let’s see if it is in practice.”
2. What are elections like in your home country? “In the Dominican Republic, the elections are democratically based, but you can have as many as eight candidates running in an election.”
3. How does the U.S. system compare? “In DR, presidents can serve more than two terms if they do it nonconsecutively. In terms of voting, Dominicans are more involved just because with so many parties, they feel like they have to personally represent the party that represents them and their views.”
