Roy Caires and Tommy Cole of This Old Thing? are giving vintage-lovers a break from Goodwill. They’ve filled their graffiti-laden boutique with reworked secondhand clothing for both genders, along with edgy Fetty skull-shaped necklaces and jeans from Swedish denim company Cheap Monday. 109 Franklin St at Greenpoint Ave (718-784-8818)
Dalaga
You can nab a subtly subversive wardrobe in this tiny boudoiresque shop: Womenswear skews toward ultrafem, with ’50s-style cocktail frocks for less than $100. Guys can pick up wallet-friendly Jed sweater-vests and Sovereign Beck ties. 150 Franklin St between Greenpoint Ave and Kent St (877-287-8395)
The Garden
Tempeh meets kielbasa at this beloved European-style organic grocery store, whose affordable prices put Whole Foods to shame. Slightly goth Polish girls ring up vegan, gluten-free and raw-food types, alongside folks who’ve just popped in for fresh pierogi. 921 Manhattan Ave at Kent St (718-389-6448)
HH Design: Shop
Though it’s just across the street from an auto-repair shop, you won’t find any grease-monkey garb at Brooklyn accessories label Hayden-Harnett’s first outpost. The Soho-esque space offers slouchy satchels, spanking-new womenswear and oversize ’70s-inspired sunglasses. 211 Franklin St at Freeman St (718-349-2247)

Kusala Yoga
Kusala is a serene hatha studio that provides personal attention in small classes, and free meditation on Sundays. Sessions are labeled according to difficulty, but the teachers happily modify poses to suit all comers. 159 Franklin St at India St (917-251-1359, kusalayoga.com)
Permanent Records
This just-opened shop offers a varied selection of used CDs and LPs; new releases favor rock and underground indie. But, says owner Marjorie Eisenberg: “I cover all genres—it’s a little bit of everything.” 181 Franklin St between Green and Huron Sts (718-383-4083)
Photoplay
This the perfect neighborhood video store: snug digs, a comprehensive selection that ranges from B faves to blockbusters and an attitude-free staff that really knows its flicks. The only drawback: There’s no drop box. 933 Manhattan Ave between Java and Kent Sts (718-383-7782)
Tomcats
Preen like James Dean at this retro barbershop, where you can sip beer and listen to rockabilly tunes while you get your hep pompadour or WWII-style flyboy cut. 130 India St between Franklin St and Manhattan Ave (718-349-9666)
