- The only spot in New York where a boozer can undo the damage where the damage was done, G Spa & Lounge(at Hotel Gansevoort, 18 Ninth Ave at 13th St; 212-206-6700) is a daytime refuge that converts into a slick bar after dark. The spot’s Jekyll and Hyde routine—the three treatment rooms transform into nocturnal VIP lounges and the juice bar becomes a scenesters’ watering hole—will be in full swing after a grand opening planned for early next month.
- Set to open in mid-March, the Mastic Spa (110–112 Thompson St between Prince and Spring Sts, 212-219-3251, www.masticspa.com), around the corner from the mastic product shop that shares its name, will employ the famously potent Greek wonder resin in its treatments.
- Next month, Broadway Spa is launching a sister location in Soho. Named after an Argentine waterfall, Iguazu(350 Hudson St between Charlton and King Sts, no phone yet) will center its treatments on a motif of wood and water.
- Jamie Ahn, owner of Union Square’s Acqua Beauty Bar, is hatching her own spin-off this spring. Opening in May, the three-story Townhouse Spa(39 W 56th St between Fifth and Sixth Aves; no phone yet, www.townhousespa.com) will have a private floor for women and another devoted to men. Guests can choose from the full menu of face and body treatments, or opt for blowouts or nail work. Those who prefer a coed scene can mingle at the café and lounge planned for the third floor.—Marissa Patlingrao Cooley
