Pak Punjab Deli & Grocery
The East Village is full of holes-in-the-wall hawking South Asian food to cabbies and drunken yuppies, but this one seldom becomes overrun. Look past the dingy exterior and load up on rich, savory chana masala ($3.50) and gut-busting, flaky samosas ($1). 50 Second Ave at 3rd St (212-614-0107)
Sputnik
Sometimes, at 2am, only a burger will do. This artsy hangout has 13 varieties, like the New Yorker ($5.95)—a juicy organic patty with all the fixings and spicy mayo. Add fries for $2. 262 Taaffe Pl between DeKalb and Willoughby Aves, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn (718-398-6666)
Gottino Enoteca e Salumeri
This tiny wine-focused Village nook offers small but satisfying snacks till 2am. Savor the salty-sweet combo of mini apples stuffed with cotechino sausage ($8), or crunch on light crostini smeared with ricotta and ground fava beans ($5). 52 Greenwich Ave between Charles and Perry Sts (212-633-2590)—Ethan LaCroix
Mamoun’s
Most favor the falafel at this Middle Eastern perennial, open daily till 5am. But we’ve learned to appreciate the chicken kebab sandwich ($4.50)—browned chicken, slices of tomato, lettuce and smoky tahini inside a warm pita—and sticky baklava ($1.50). (119 MacDougal St between Bleecker and W 3rd Sts, 212-674-8685),
Bar Jamón
Until 2am, a multitude of snacks can be enjoyed at this Spanish wine bar from chefs Mario Batali and Andy Nusser. Sample the pan tomate ($5), a toasted baguette rubbed with a healthy dose of raw garlic and tomatoes—perfect vehicles for translucent slices of the buttery jamón serrano ($15 for a plate for two people). (125 E 17th St at Irving Pl, 212-253-2773.)
Great NY Noodletown
While the ambience is gritty and cafeteria-like, the steaming-hot, flavorful fare lures us to Chinatown for late-night munchies, as does the 3:30am closing time (4:30am on weekends). We can’t resist the house’s succulent roasted pork ($6.50) and the crispy panfried noodles with chicken and black-bean sauce ($9.95). (28 Bowery at Bayard St, 212-349-0923)
Crif Dogs
This junk-food favorite in the East Village makes some bad-ass dogs until 2am on weekdays and 4am on Saturday nights. Consider the Spicy Redneck (bacon-wrapped and covered in chili, coleslaw and jalapeños, $5.15) and the Chihuahua (bacon-wrapped with sour cream and avocado, $4.88). Vegetarians: Try the gooey waffle cheese fries ($4 for a whopping large) and excellent root-beer floats ($5). (113 St. Marks Pl between First Ave and Ave A, 212-614-2728)
Lupa
Swing by Batali’s Village trattoria after 10:30pm (Sunday–Thursday) for a $26 three-course “Roman meal.” Choose from antipasti like broccoli rabe with ricotta and pastas including a carbonara. Dessert and a glass of vino are included, too. (170 Thompson St between Bleecker and Houston Sts, 212-982-5089)
Han Bat
Munch on an excellent bi bim bap ($11.95) with a first-rate rice crust and more Korean home cooking at this reliable 24-hour north-of-K Town destination. (53 W 35th St between Fifth and Sixth Aves, 212-629-5588)
Black Iron Burger Shop
This East Village hole-in-the-wall serves fine budget burgers most nights until 3am, griddled to order. The house-special Iron Horse burger ($7)—two patties with grilled onion and strong horseradish cheddar—is a delicious, sinus-clearing concoction. It goes awfully well with a side of extra-crispy onion rings and a thick chocolate shake. (540 E 5th St between Aves A and B, 212-677-6067)

Your upper-westside merchants assoc. dues at work maybe?? ;-)
The upper west side, especially Manhattan Valley, the transforming area South of 110th Street, East of Central Park West, North of 96th Street, and West of Broadway, is an area you will start to hear a lot more about. There are countless new gems popping up all the time, and look forward to Time Out's coverage of the area.
agreed... the upper west side is a vibrant area and it would be good to get your "finds".
Most of your listings are in lower Manhattan. Why don't you list any restaurants on the Upper West Side?
Eurotrip is really really good! They also play really cool German music.
