“One person said the only thing missing from my picture was a chalk outline; others said it looked Grecian, or like a classic still life. I got a surge of friend requests on MySpace and a lot of messages being like, ‘I’ll go vegan if you lay around my table like that.’ I sent a copy of the issue to my parents, and my mom was like, ‘Joshua!’ Oh! And a group of 14-year-old girls walked by me on the street and shouted, ‘Hey, mister! Nice picture!’ I just smiled. It would’ve felt illegal to engage them.”
