Landmark achievement: This legendary Texas punk band made its name with a mix of acid-fried psychedelia, tribal drumming, the mind-bending free associations of singer Gibby Haynes and a trance-inducing stage show.
Why see them now: For the first time since 1989, the classic lineup of Haynes, Paul Leary, Jeff Pinkus, King Coffey and Teresa Taylor is hitting the road. “People always suspect you’re doing something like this for the money,” Haynes says. “So if any of your readers or employees have an idea how we can make money on something called the Butthole Surfers, just let me know.”
