Lincoln and Zak's apartment
COMPARE TO: Megan's apartment | Sarah's apartment | Suzan's apartment
Lincoln and Zak are a marketing director and an A&R rep , respectively. They’ve lived in their apartment for one and a half years.
The livingroom
“When Zak plays the guitar, he plays at the desk, and he’ll record or write, so the computer’s there,” Lincoln says. “Next to it is the puppy’s crate with a red corduroy Ralph Lauren curtain over it—we cut it to fit. You take what your pets need and change it so it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb.”
“I fought for the floating couch,” says Zak. “I felt like it defined this as a living-room space.”
The alcove
“The dark color really separates it from the main room, which is white,” Lincoln says. “We wanted to make the distinction that they were two separate rooms, as opposed to our bed being in the living room. It gets so sunny, too, in the morning. This makes it feel like a cave.”
The details
“It was Zak’s idea to color-code the books,” says Lincoln. “Now I never want the jackets on any of my books.”
The kitchen
“Almost all the wood furniture I brought with me from San Francisco,” Zak says. “Nothing was over $300.”
The bathroom
“I wanted a good, warm color in here,” Zak says. “This little Moroccan shelf I put there because I don’t like clean lines. There’s a lot of color in it.”
