Best wine bar
Blue Ribbon Downing Street Bar
Other nominees: Black Mountain Wine House, Casellula Cheese & Wine Café, In Vino
It would be easy for a restaurant family like Bruce and Eric Bromberg’s Blue Ribbon group—with concepts as disparate as a sushi bar, a brasserie and a bakery—to lose its focus and quality. But judging by its flagship wine bar, it keeps getting the details right. The tiny space’s white-marble-topped bar offers an ideal spot for sipping vino while digging into small plates such as warm, thick toast with luxurious smoked sturgeon. Attentive bartenders offer friendly guidance with the diverse 250-bottle wine list, which has everything from a $600 Saint Emilion to a $33 Greek robola; diners can sample many more-expensive bottles by the glass. With eclecticism this refined, who needs to specialize?

At first, this cramped little place seemed to invite with its charmingly rustic decor. Shame all that had to be ruined by the cattiness of the wait staff. we asked for the option of ordering our food as if we were at a table but we'd agree to eat at the bar if no tables cleared out for us by the time the food came. This idea was considered APPALLING by the hostess and the bartender. You should have seen their catty little faces all scrunched up as they crabbed to each other about our audacity!
At first, this cramped little place seemed to invite with its charmingly rustic decor. Shame all that had to be ruined by the cattiness of the wait staff. With that in mind, and being as hungry as we were, we asked for the option of ordering our foo
definately a place that many locals go. outside seating can be nice if you can get one. tab is always reasonable. everything else like service and food is EH. i have left with my party before ordering because the host/waiter was just plain rude and obnoxious. frankly, they need to get over themselves... but i guess as long as ppl keep coming.
apparently readers haven't eaten at alchemy in a while. this is the worst restaurant in brooklyn.
Go Peter Daversa!!!!!!!!!The best cook in NY, Hill Country is lucky to have him
Apparently the readers of this magazine have no BBQ experience whatsoever if they think hill country is the best! I know there is a shortage of good BBQ in NYC, but even Dallas BBQ is better than this overpriced garbage chain! Daisy Mae's, RUB, hell, the mcRib is better than hill country! If you like paying 10 bucks for a mexican coke that tastes like every other coke in the world, and carrying a bunch of subpar smoked meats all over a buffet restaurant then by all means, enjoy!
I am a HUGE fan of the TREATS TRUCK and LOVE the MEXICAN BROWNIES!! I was surprised to see the TREATS TRUCK didn't win as everyone I know LOVES LOVES LOVES IT! HURRAY FOR THE TREATS TRUCK!!!! IT'S THE BEST IN NEW YORK!!!
Treats Truck has the best mobile food in NYC! Give me the world's best chocolate chip cookie over bacon creme anglaise any day!
