WINTER Wonderlands
South Street Seaport (19 Fulton St at South St, 212-732-8257) Santa reads ’Twas the Night Before Christmas to a group of mommies and whining babies. He tries to get their attention by waving his arms when he reads exciting parts, but it doesn’t work. I couldn’t hear a thing, and why were there only babies there? Plus, Santa is funny-looking.
Holiday Train Exhibit at the New York Botanical Garden (Bronx River Pkwy at Fordham Rd, Bronx; 718-817-8700) This is a display of miniature 18th- and 19th-century buildings, including mansions, landmarks and some historical places that have been demolished. There’s even a packed Yankee Stadium (with sound effects!). I found the place where my school is now. It made me wonder why certain old buildings are torn down while others stay.
Holiday Lights at the Bronx Zoo (Bronx River Pkwy at Fordham Rd, Bronx; 718-367-1010) I loved every exhibit here. The paths have blinking lights shaped like animals. There is an indoor garden with large koi fish and beautiful butterflies competing for attention. I loved the sea lion feeding (I wanted to jump into the water with them!), and watching the tigers run around.
The WINNER
