Charles Barkley is known for having a bad golf swing. Turns out he does everything else in life in the motion of his swing.
And what’s your favorite that’s never aired?
Megan Fox was a horror villainwho killed people by skatting. It was only the sixth sketch I’d ever written.
You’d never done sketch before this job?!?
I took a class last summer; that was it. It was crazy to go from sketch class at the PIT—just sitting in a circle reading them out loud—to SNL.
So have you found that your writing is becoming less absurd, more mainstream?
No. Well, now it’s contained absurdity.
What’s the best thing about working for the show?
The history. And the process of creating a show every week. Right now, it’s Monday and there’s no show. Saturday there’s going to be a full show.

Seth Meyers left his Twitter account open once on his computer.…
Jessi Klein

Of your sketches that have aired so far, what’s your favorite?
I’ve only been there for about two months, so anything that gets on is instantly in my pantheon of favorites.
And what’s your favorite that’s never aired?
Kristin Chenoweth has her owntalk show called Small Talk, the only point of which is to standnext to tall people and show howtiny she is.
SNL is famous for its late nights. Has that affected you?
If my sleep schedule were music, it would be free jazz. Just kind of all over the place.
And your diet?
The office was sent 30 boxes of Pirate Booty snacks, so I’ve been eating those. And then last week Arby’s sent over a huge amount of food. And someone left a half of a doughnut out, so I ate that, too.
What’s the best thing about working for the show?
When there are animals involved, it really hits me that I’m working on this giant machine. If you writethe word goat, a goat generallyshows up.
What’s the office prank you’d love to pull but never would?
I’d probably hide the Pirate Booty.
Christine Nangle

The appearances of Jersey Shore’s Snooki on Update with Bobby Moynihan.
And what’s your favorite that’s never aired?
A new Tarantino movie where the nuns from The Sound of Music scalp Nazis to help the Von Trapp family escape.
I hear you got your hands on some Pirate’s Booty. Other product-placement perks?
We did a sketch about tampons and were like, “Wonder how many we’ll get?” But we didn’t [get any]. I mean, what’s the point of getting to this level if you’re not getting free tampons?
Can you name a moment of triumph?
Twice I’ve worked on the last sketch of the show, and each time, during the musical guest, someone came up to me and said, “You need to cut down the sketch right now.” It’s that classic running-through-the-halls-to-get-the-cue-cards thing. I had to talk to Sigourney Weaver while she was getting dressed. But the second time, I had cuts prepared. And I’m never prepared for anything.
What’s the best thing about working for the show?
It’s a big sleepover with your friends where you try to stay up as late as you can so you don’t miss any of the fun.
What’s the office prank you’d love to pull but never would?
Well, I couldn’t be the one to pull it, but I’d love to walk in one day and see Conan sitting at his old desk.
Buress hosts Comedy at KFBK every Sunday. Klein cohosts Punch Up Your Life every Tuesday. Nangle performs sporadically at the UCBT.
Christine Nangle is freaking awesome!
