The duo of Dominique Keegan and Glen “DJ Wool” Brady deliver a dreamy piece of electropop that wouldn’t have seemed out of place in a John Hughes film, had the track been released in the era of Blane and Duckie. Stuttering keys, a catchy synth-bass bottom, a two-chord melody and Keegan’s breathy croon—it’s basically a tough-guy version of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. But it’s the remixes that will be getting the club play: Ursula 1000 takes the cut in an electrohop direction, with a side trip to breakbeat-rave territory; Luke Solomon lends his usual fractured-house touch to the song; and Sam Young and I Sancho transform the tune into an electro-Italodisco stomper. The Komka version, while the most mild-mannered, may be the best; with its rubbery bass, subtly syncopated hi-hat, and a modicum of bleeps and whooshes, it’s the shy Molly Ringwald of the bunch.—Bruce Tantum
and i agree. original rox. all remixes are great. but the komka version makes me want to have sex with a late nite dance floor. WITHOUT protection.
