Ursula 1000: house and breaks

Does anyone understand the dynamics of party rocking better than Ursula 1000? We think not. (And if there is such a person, send him or her this way; we enjoy having our parties rocked.) The veteran DJ and ESL recording artist—Alex Gimeno to his folks—has been perfecting his skills for years, with his sound evolving from groovy space-age-bachelor-pad material to its current mix of booty-shaking house and electronic breaks, of the variety the kids generally describe as “pumpin’.” Mr. 1000 has been a busy man as of late: A new single, “Star Machine” (culled from his recent Mystics album), is out this week; a remix for the Glass’ “Superhero” is also about to drop; two other recent remixes, for Destroy Disco and Nappy Riddem (on Fort Knox Recordings), are in the shops; and he’s working on a new fuzz -rock-themed EP (“inspired from all the trashy garage rock I’ve been rediscovering lately”). That’s not to mention his upcoming Ursula 1000’s Undressed Fridays gig at APT coming up on Friday 23. Can’t wait?
