When we last checked in with Franc O—the onetime sleaze-slinging resident of the much-missed Vampyros Lesbos party who improbably morphed into an aficionado of Afrofunk, Ghanaian highlife and the like—he had just returned from West Africa, crates of hard-won vinyl in tow, to kick off the Voodoo Funk party. That affair is still extant, but now Mr. O (freshly back from another record-buying sojourn) is helming a new party called Lagos Disco Inferno. He actually used to play a lot of Nigerian disco at Voodoo Funk, so why a separate bash? “Some of my friends just don’t like disco,” he explains.
