When NYC’s bizarro-world, no-dancing-allowed cabaret laws forced Plant Bar to close in 2003, one could have forgiven the beloved East Village hangout’s proprietors, Marcus Lambkin and Dominique Keegan, if they had jumped ship and faded from the nightlife scene. But it hasn’t quite worked out that way: Lambkin has been filling discerning dance floors with his production work under the wonderful Shit Robot name, while Keegan’s been keeping himself pretty damn busy with a bevy of projects. He runs Plant Music with partner Stretch Armstrong, releasing music from Tittsworth, the Glass, Kap10Kurt, Loose Shus and Kasper Bjorke; with DJ Wool, he performs as indie-electro combo the Glass; he sings with Ralph Lawson’s 2020 Soundsystem; and…well, that’s enough for now, isn’t it? Oh yeah, one more thing: On Thursday 14, he and Kap10Kurt are unveiling a new party, This Is What We Live For, at the swankophonic 105 Riv, with the debut edition featuring a major-league visitor that we can’t reveal under threat of being placed in a small box with a pack of starving rodents. But screw big-time guests—Keegan is a fab DJ in his own right, and here’s a mix from the man himself. —Bruce Tantum
