Apparently, there’s more to L.A. dance music than big-room trance and electro remixes of rock songs. With only six releases to its name, that burg’s Droid Recordings has quickly become one of the country’s top minimal-techno labels. This four-track EP, produced by the excellently named brothers Vangelis and Vidal Vargas, should up the imprint’s standing further. Jacking, angular and oddly funky, all the cuts will appeal to clubland’s outer reaches. But the best of the bunch has to be the title track’sAgaric remix, which comes off like the Doppler-distorted buzzing of some extra-dimensional model-car race.
