Metropolitan Museum of Art, Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Roof Garden
“Cai Guo-Qiang on the Roof: Transparent Monument”
Depending on your point of view, the Met’s Cai showcase on its roof garden either provides some early publicity or steals some thunder from the Guggenheim's more ambitious offering. It means Cai’s Guggenheim survey will no longer be his first solo show at a major New York museum. Munroe shrugs this off, saying her museum's show is still “his first museum retrospective, ever, anywhere. He’s had solo shows but nothing close to this scale."
