Brotherhood of the traveling crates
Over the course of a “cultural olympiad” alongside the Beijing summer games (for which Cai is also working as director of visual and special effects for the August 8 opening ceremony), the current Guggenheim survey is scheduled to appear at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing. Its next stop will be the Guggenheim Bilbao, in spring 2009. At press time, that is slated to be the end of the show’s travels. Meanwhile, another artist will doubtless be starting his or her 20-year journey to break into New York's finest cultural institutions.
