Associate creative director Hakarl Bee and menswear designer Jilibaldo Jimenez are more than dumpster divers—they’re storytellers. Every item in their apartment—a year-old Jonathan Adler chaise aside—has something to say. Take their reading lamp, for example. Bee found it on a Greenpoint street and carried it barhopping before taking it home to put on display. “That’s what happens,” laughs Bee. “I do stuff and Jili either likes it or puts in a veto.”

The Future Perfect (115 North 6th St at Berry St, Williamsburg, Brooklyn; 718-599-6278, thefutureperfect.com)
The couple finds this store inspiring. Says Bee, “They feature local artists I might not otherwise come across.”
Junk (197 North 9th St at Driggs Ave, Williamsburg, Brooklyn; 718-640-6299, myspace.com/brooklynjunk)
“It really is junk—hit or miss,” says Bee, who has still managed to score cool finds in the chaotic shop. “I don’t really like the owner though; she never comes down on the prices.”
Paul Smith (280 Grand St between Havemeyer and Roebling Sts, Williamsburg, Brooklyn; 718-218-0020)
“Paul Smith’s home goods have established a masculinity that doesn’t take itself too seriously,” explains Bee. “They embrace granny chic and turn it into a well-rounded, colorful gentlemen’s club. When I’m all grown up, I wanna live like that.”
