Maya Marzolf, a former fashion photography producer, combined her love of antiques, salvaged materials and green design last May when she opened Le Grenier (19 Greenpoint Ave at West St, Greenpoint, Brooklyn; 718-569-0111, legrenierny.com). The waterfront boutique stocks industrial- and machine-age pieces with a mix of contemporary housewares. Marzolf’s 1870s Victorian row house, located in the same neighborhood, can be described in a similar way. The 800-square-foot, two-story space is a “meeting between found antiques and quirky modern things.” She purchased it in 2002, and has been renovating and decorating ever since. Says Marzolf, “Depending on the day, it’s either my pride and joy or a daunting money pit.”
